Tied up.

I tie myself to you,

I bind with self with words of affection,

With subtle touches I draw you in.

At first it was threads, small looks, witty jests.

Your soul and mine travel the same path.

“Here is one I could love,” said my mind.

Shoe laces and yarn tied us, closer we grew.

Yet now I have begun to use rope.

The complement, the touch, time in your company.

How I have savored our journey thus far.

“Be wary you foolish youth. You would love easily

You would bind yourself so easily,

yet there is no knife to cut the bounds once made.

The string digs, the yarn bites, the rope burns.

Careful, slow, be wise.

To break free will cost dearly.

To be bound with chains will break you.”

Freedom has chaffed me for too long.

How I have wished to find rest in another.

Go slowly into that slavery, bondservant.

I’ve been doing a thing I thought I would never do. Writing poetry about love. The cynic in me raves. ” Our pride shall never recover. You have doomed me to this. No one wants to hear about love, emotions are weakness, love is a disease. If you have the tastelessness to write poetry at least try to make it bearable. ” I find I don’t care.
